A.J. Walker, Sr. Reunion

The A.J. Walker, Sr. descendents held their annual reunion Saturday, July 9th, 2005 at the Senior Center at Mill Pond Park. Seventy-nine family members and friends had a wonderful day of visiting, looking at pictures, playing games and “42,” having a lot of fun with a Silent Auction and ending the day with a good ole singing. We had a delicious bar-B-Q and covered dish lunch followed by pies, cakes, cookies and homemade ice cream.

The theme was patriotic and the room looked real pretty in red, white and blue. The table decorations were neat; “The 2005 Walker Reunion” painted on a roofing shingle and was added to the door prizes. Various Texas Flag replicas were made. Besides a big Texas Flag, there was a flag painted on a hanging board; one was a quilted type using a blue bandana fabric, a red bandana fabric and white to look like the Texas flag and several other hand made flags. These were made by Linda Barron from Baird, Texas and her helpers. These were given as door prizes during the auction time. We had a raffle drawing for a six piece set of luggage, won by Frank Jolley from Houston, Texas and a portable DVD player, won by Rick Hammett from Weatherford, Texas. Goodie Bags were handed out to the children nine years old and under. It was great to see so many of them present.

It is always interesting to catch up on the genealogy report that Eldon Pierce has in an ongoing family ancestral chart that he reports on from year to year.
