“52” family members and friends had a wonderful day of visiting, looking at pictures, playing games and having a lot of fun with a Silent Auction. We had a delicious Bar-B-Q and covered dish lunch followed by pies, cakes, cookies and homemade ice cream. The theme was “Mystery Dinner Theater” and there was a contest called “WHICH WALKER AM I?” Dorothy Cason won, with 9 out of 10 correct answers, and won a gift bag filled with San Saba Chamber of Commerce goodies. The floral centerpieces, of bees and turtles, were given out as door prizes. Winners were Renea Stearns, Rita Schoch, Jimmy Sewell, Nikki Kelton, Beverly McCoy, Todd McHorse, Laurie Leopold, Reba Stutts, Zach Leopold, Dorothy Cason and Lindsay McHorse. Raffle prizes, this year, were a King-size quilt, a portable DVD player and a Tower fan. These prizes were won by: Eldon Pierce, Doug Leopold and Dorothy Cason, respectively. The special gift winners were: Youngest – Kadence Avery McHorse [at 3 months old] with a book called “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”; Furthest from the Youngest – Martha Roe Terry [at 91 years young] with a book “Remembering the 40’s” and a CD of Louis Armstrong and the All Stars: Live at the Hollywood Empire in late 1949; Most Family Present – Dorothy Cason [with 15 members present] with a family game of Scrabble; Traveling the Farthest – Eldon Pierce [at 635 miles from Albuquerque, thanks to Bud Wellborn who drove him in] with a “Welcome Friends” wreath to hang when he got back home.
